Still Lifting 10 x 3?

If your sets look like this-

  • Set 1- 10 Kg x 10 Reps
  • Set 2- 10 Kg x 10 Reps
  • Set 3- 10 Kg x 10 Reps

You’re not building muscle.

Why?

What do you need for hypertrophy (muscle growth)?

-You need stimulus, which means you need to lift more than what you did last time.

And what do you need to lift more than what you did last time?

-Give it your ALL

And what do you need to absolutely guarantee you give it your ALL?

-You should be fully exhausting your muscle on every single workout.

Now think about it – if you’re hitting the same weight for the same number of reps over 3 sets continuously, do you think you’re reaching your muscles' peak, exhausting them, and creating extra stimulus for muscle growth? I don't think so.

Your sets should look like this-

  • Set 1- 10 Kg x 10 Reps
  • Set 2- 10 Kg x 9 Reps
  • Set 3- 10 Kg x 7 Reps

You shouldn't be able to lift the same weight as you progress towards the end of your workout, else you’re not lifting to your muscles maximum potential.
