Should you Bulk/Cut first?

I always get this question- 

Bro, should I bulk or cut first?

I want abs but I don’t want to get bulky, tell me what to do

Although ideally, i would want everyone to go on a bulk (calorie surplus) for a while before going on a cut (calorie deficit), I would always say cut first.

Why?

It’s psychological.

For me and everyone at #TeamAvlean we know losing weight is the easiest because we’ve done it, but have you ever lost a large chunk of fat before and maintained it? I’m guessing most likely no.

And there’s nothing wrong in not having done it before, but if you’ve never experienced the win, how would you even believe that it’s possible to lose weight?

During a bulk- one goes through a lot of emotional turmoil because you slowly start losing definition and vascularity, and yes everyone says delay gratification, but if you don’t believe the gratification is even possible why would you even delay it?

So I would always recommend going on a cut first if you’ve never experienced your first win yet.
